when i bought my house over here i done what you had done, d numbers applied to the community for permision to live there then payed a visite to the police were i got a visiters permit,you pay community tax on the house ,m and thats it ,my friends mam and dad are doing what you are doing ,they have bought a property in our town ,and plan to use it as a holliday house,its all very easy,and the norwegions are so layed back it all takes time ,but dont fret they get ther e in the end,,, i think with your car you have to ask for permision to drive it over here for more than year, i had mine for three years,but i found it was hard to get insurance for mor than three months with the english insurance commpanys ,so i just pleaded ignorant and kept it over her and paying the english insurance ,,god knows what would happen if i had a bump,,al and all once your here you can sort all your paper work out , and still be living in norway

Hi

We have traveled to Norway many times over many years. We are now retired and intending to purchase a second house in Norway and use it for perhaps 4 to 6 months a year.

So far we have got our D-nummers and used these to open a bank account. As we would like to stay for more than 3 months at a time we have also applied for and got residence permits from the Norwegian embassy in London - well to be precise a letter that we need to present to the local police station when we have purchased a house.

My questions are:
1) should we present our letters and get passports stamped? Is there any downside to this? Other people I know habitually spend more than 3 months in Norway and never have a problem. They do not seem to track you in and out of the country, plus you can go to Sweden anytime.

2) I can't work out the implications for having our car with us - nothing I have read on the subject seems to cover our situation. i.e. more than three months but never 12+

3) What taxes will we have to pay in Norway?  I am assuming tax on interest in the Norwegian bank, plus anything associated with the house.

Any help much appreciated

Costs me about 100kr and its in my account after 2 days.

Wow, a viking wedding sounds amazing!! I'll definately check out that place& if not, maybe they could put me in touch with some other people.
